Matched on who you are means we hold things about you that matter. So here is exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Plain English. No tricks.
This policy explains what personal data PAIR collects, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We have written it in plain English. If anything is unclear, contact us at privacy@pair-date.com.
PAIR is run by PAIR DATE LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17278532), registered address Flat 1 Church Court, Church Road, Fleet, GU51 4ND, England. We are the controller of your personal data.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number C2058624.

Account. Your email address and password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider), or your Sign in with Apple or Google identifier.
Age. Your date of birth. PAIR is for adults only. You confirm your date of birth at sign up, PAIR will not create an account for anyone under 18, and your date of birth cannot be changed afterwards except by contacting support. Other members see your age, never your date of birth.
Profile. Your display name, bio, occupation, education level, height, drinking and smoking habits, relationship intent, and the region you choose from a list. We do not collect your precise location. We do not use GPS.
Photos. The photos you upload. We remove hidden metadata from every photo on upload, including any location data your phone added.
Gender and who you want to meet. Your gender and the genders you are interested in. Together these can reveal your sexual orientation, which is special category data under UK data protection law. See section 4.
Assessments. Your answers to our four compatibility assessments (emotional intelligence, attachment style, personality and astrology) and the results. We store your assessment answers encrypted. See section 4.
Activity and matching. Likes, sparks, pair requests and passes you send or receive, your matches, compatibility scores, when you last opened each conversation, your read receipts setting, the people you block, and the people you report.
Messages. The messages you send to your matches.
Pair Code. Your Pair Code and a record of when it is scanned.
Subscription. Whether you have PAIR Premium and its status. Apple (on iPhone) or Google (on Android) handles your payment. We never see or store your card details.
Diagnostics and usage. Crash reports and performance data, and records of the features you use. These are linked to a random account ID, never to your name or email.
Support. Anything you send us when you contact support.
Waitlist. If you join our waitlist before creating an account, we store your email address, how you found us, your country, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address.
We do not collect your precise location, phone number, contacts, browsing history, payment card details, religion or ethnicity.

Two kinds of data we process are especially protected:
Before we process either, we ask for your explicit consent on the “How PAIR uses what you share” screen, and we keep a record of when you gave it.
You can withdraw consent at any time in Profile, under Consent and privacy. When you withdraw:
Withdrawing consent does not delete your account. To remove everything, delete your account (section 8).
Matching is automated. We calculate compatibility scores from your assessments, your profile and an AI representation of your profile, and we use those scores to decide who appears in your browse deck. This is profiling. It does not have legal or similarly significant effects on you: you can still see and contact anyone who appears, and you can ask a person to review how you are being matched by emailing us.
AI features.
Automated moderation. Photos, messages, bios and AI generated text are checked by an AI moderation system before other members see them. Content that breaks our rules is blocked. Content suggesting child sexual abuse leads to immediate suspension and a report to the National Crime Agency.
AI features are provided by Anthropic, OpenAI and Google, acting as our processors (section 6). Under their terms for business customers, they do not use the data we send them to train their models.
Other members see your profile: display name, age, photos, bio, region, occupation, relationship intent and drinking habits. They do not see your gender preferences, date of birth, email or assessment answers. Your matches see the messages you send them. If a match has PAIR Premium and you both have read receipts switched on, they can see when you last opened your conversation with them. You can turn this off at any time in Profile, under Consent and privacy; if you do, you also stop seeing it for others. Match insights about a pair are based on both people’s assessment results, and both people in the match can see them.

Authorities. We share data with the police, the National Crime Agency or other authorities where the law requires it, or where it is needed to protect someone from serious harm.
Business changes. If PAIR is sold or merged, your data may transfer to the new owner, who must honour this policy.
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Some of our providers are in the United States. When your data goes there, we protect it with the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the UK Extension to the EU US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified. Ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguard.

You have the right to:
For anything not in the app, email privacy@pair-date.com. We reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
We encrypt data in transit, and we encrypt your assessment answers at rest. Access to every table in our database is restricted, so members can only reach their own data and the profile details PAIR shows to other members. Sensitive operations run only on our servers. Crash reports are stripped of names, emails, messages and photos. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you and the ICO about a serious breach as the law requires.
PAIR is only for people aged 18 or over. You confirm your date of birth at sign up, and PAIR will not create an account for anyone under 18. We do not carry out identity checks. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it.
The PAIR app does not use cookies. It uses a random identifier on your device for usage analytics and crash reporting. Our analytics only record specific actions we choose to measure: we do not record your screen, and we do not record everything you tap. To opt out of analytics, email privacy@pair-date.com. Our website (pair-date.com) does not set cookies. If you join the waitlist there, your browser keeps a small note that you have joined so the page can show it; that note stays on your device and is never sent to us.
If we make an important change, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The effective date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
